Anne Arundel County Fair 2021 Brings You Down to Earth!

Celebrating its 68th edition, Anne Arundel County Fair (AACF) returns this year after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic. The fair will bring you and your family down to earth by providing wagonloads of country fun from September 15 to 19, 2021 in Crownsville, just a short drive away from Annapolis.

If you enjoy watching family-friendly competition, you will find it at AACF, with sports- wholesome contests like hog calling, pig races, tractor pulling, and watermelon eating.

Booths will also be offering homemade wine, home-brewed beer, handcrafted furniture, and unique Christmas decorations for those who like planning ahead for the holidays even though it’s still summer.

Do you have kids? They will have the thrill of their lives on the fair’s amusement rides, interactive car racing, watching an illusionist show, and viewing 4H Club animals.

History

Mrs. Lee of Annapolis started putting the AACF together in early 1952. The Maryland State Fair Board eventually gave their approval, and Anne Arundel County Fair debuted at the old Labrot Race Track in September.

The following year, the fair moved to Sandy Point State Park, which was its beach home for 25 years. In 1984, AACF made Crownsville its permanent location.

Giant Lumberjack

In December 1990, Uncle Harve, the giant lumberjack modeled after Paul Bunyon, made his way off the Baldwin Service Center roof after standing sentinel for about 15 years.

In April 1991, the Baldwin family allowed Uncle Harve to spend his golden years at the Anne Arundel County Fair, where the 20-foot statue now greets visitors with a huge welcome sign at the entrance.
